about us

The House Theatre Co. is a new theatre collective dedicated to developing new work, launching the careers of emerging artists, and uplifting underrepresented voices in the theatre industry. Our programming represents a development model that guides artists through creating, developing, and producing new work in a collective space while elevating unheard voices in our community.

Founded this year by Miranda Paiz and Sophie Simons, The House's work has been presented at performance venues and community spaces such as The Tank, the Dramatists Guild Foundation, The Rat, The Hudson Guild Theatre, Hive Mind Books, and more.

The Greenhouse

monthly readings of new work

The Greenhouse is our new play incubator series, dedicated to regular readings of new work and an intimate feedback session for playwrights. This is a chance for writers at all levels of experience to develop their plays in community and begin working towards the next stages of that development.

The Open House is our community building series, with opportunities for artists to workshop, craft, and create together. We’re dedicated to uniting people through exciting and no-barrier “ins” to the theatre world. Upcoming programming may include networking events, open mics, co-working sessions, and all-access productions.

The Playhouse

full-scale workshop productions in NYC

The Playhouse is our workshop production series, carrying new work into theatres across the city and connecting skilled emerging artists across disciplines. We aim to focus our Playhouse pieces on actualizing new works and giving artists the resources to continue producing their shows and push their careers into the next level, taking off as much of the burden of “self-producing” that too often falls into the hands of early-career artists.
